Self-expression is a fundamental part of being yourself, and tattoos have long been a form of personal storytelling and identity. For 51-year-old Richard Huff, tattoos became a way to express both his individuality and love for his family—he has over 240 of them, including his children’s names and even his daughter’s lips. A self-proclaimed ink addict, Richard began with his legs and eventually covered 85% of his body. He shares that it’s not just the artwork that draws him in, but also the experience itself, and he hopes to be fully covered in ink within the next few years.

Richard and his wife Marita have a blended family of five children, and despite the love and unity within their home, they face frequent judgment from the outside world. Marita often shares sweet family moments online, but strangers are quick to criticize Richard’s appearance. Some even say he looks “scary” to children at school. His daughter, however, is always ready to defend him, proudly stating, “My dad is not scary, he is good with tattoos.” Even Marita admits she initially judged Richard based on his looks, but as she got to know him, she discovered his kind and generous heart.

As a devoted father, Richard is actively involved in his children’s lives—attending PTA meetings, school events, and doing everything a loving parent does. Despite his commitment, harsh comments still come his way. Critics often question the necessity of his face tattoos, but many others support him, pointing out that being a good parent has nothing to do with appearance. Richard responds with grace, saying, “There’s something wrong with [people] themselves that they would have to judge somebody else.” For Richard and his family, love and happiness are what truly matter.
